MCA Oral Exam Preparation
I have been a ship's master, an MCA examiner, surveyor and investigator, and a lecturer at Warsash Maritime Academy and University of Southampton Law School. I am therefore very well placed to work with you through the various subjects of the MCA oral exams, be it on the basis of MGN 69, MSN 1858 or MSN 1867 (for UK CECs).
There are not many candidates who look forward to these exams. However, I can help you prepare and build your confidence, before facing the MCA examiner.
International Conventions
If you think Colregs, SOLAS, MARPOL or STCW may pose stumbling blocks for your success why not contact me for tailor-made individual tuition. Be it Navigation, Stability, or Law and International Conventions we’ll work on your individual understanding to ensure that no examiners’ question catch you out.
Exam type
Whether for yacht, general deck COCs or UK LAP exams (for UK CECs) we’ll address the syllabus and exam reports always focusing on your personal needs and your “exam presence”.
In addition, mock exam questions will help you develop the confidence you need to face your examiner.
Colregs
Colregs will be practised with model ships and plots just like the real thing. However, with a cup of tea and no penalty for any mistake the exam will become less scary.
Cost
I take a maximum of two candidates at any one time and the minimum booking is for two hours. After that you can decide whether you want to continue and for how many hours. Charges are £30/person/hour based on two candidates attending Monday to Friday. For any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me by email (ulrich@kooglefisch.eu) or phone (+44 7784 766 863).
